This Week in Action:

Meet, Launch, Plan!

This week, we kicked things off by introducing new volunteers to the group's vision and got everyone started brainstorming future action. We're thrilled to announce the launch of our "Book in Common" and highlight other events coming up next week.

Our Volunteer Meet & Greet

This weekend’s Volunteer Meet & Greet was a great success! We had an excellent turnout and a lot of fun. We discovered that so many of us have so much in common.

Volunteers connected with one another, learned about Indivisible Chico's working teams, and explored ways to get involved—from event logistics and community outreach to communications, tech support, and direct action.

If you weren’t able to join us, no problem—just fill out the membership form on our site so we can help you get plugged in. Our team leads will be reaching out to you by email or phone in the coming weeks. We’ll share more opportunities for taking action at our next General Meeting on June 1st.

A big thank you to everyone who came out and to the amazing Indivisible Chico event organizers!

Indivisible Chico's Book-in-Common

Our Leadership Team is excited to announce our Book-in-Common:

We Are Indivisible: A Blueprint for Democracy After Trump

by Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg.

ree

Written by the co-founders of the national Indivisible movement, this book offers powerful insights into how ordinary people can build grassroots power to defend democracy—not just in response to Trump, but for the long haul.

Whether you’re new to activism or have been with us since the beginning, this book provides a practical roadmap for taking action together.

We invite all members to read along with us and join upcoming discussions as we reflect on the lessons of the past and chart a path forward for our work here in Chico.

Copies are available at The Bookstore in downtown Chico (next to Upper Crust).

Reports from Around Town

Intrigued by the "RE-SISTER" T-shirts worn by women at the Hands Off Social Security event, one of our awesome volunteers, Kate McCracken, attended the meeting of a new group in town: The Re-Sisters.

The Re-Sisters are a group of 15 women who initially connected after the Trump election. This dedicated group meets bi-weekly, participates in resistance trainings, contacts representatives, and actively engages with Indivisible Chico events. Recognizing their potential as an Action Team, we explored a partnership, which was met with mutual enthusiasm for shared support and amplified impact. If you are interested in finding out more about them, contact LeAnn at 530-228-1240.

This newly forming team is organizing their first Pop-up Protest on the Esplanade next Saturday, May 17th, to raise awareness about the importance of the right of habeas corpus and the related issues raised of the thousands of disappearances tracked by the United States Disappeared Tracker so far.

Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. Whether volunteering donating time, or making a donation for supplies for our events, thank you for standing with us!

Your donations help us power local actions, support volunteer-led campaigns, and protect our democracy right here in our community.
