Frequently Asked Questions
General
We're a community group based in Chico and Butte County. We focus on civic engagement and direct action to advocate for our local representation and community needs, especially concerning federal policies impacting rural Northern California. We organize events, share reliable local and national information, support voter participation, and connect with allied organizations across Northern California. We're non-partisan, with a focus on issues, accountability, and showing up for our community. Everyone is welcome, regardless of party affiliation.
We believe in protecting voting rights, ensuring elected officials are accountable to constituents (not just donors), and reforming government to serve all people. Our work is always guided by core values such as inclusivity, peaceful action, transparency, education, local focus, data-driven advocacy, and respectful dialogue.
Indivisible Chico is a non-partisan, community-led, grassroots organization committed to empowering Chico residents. Our unique strength lies in our dedication to District 1 accountability and our ability to mobilize large community coalitions, supported by a strong national Indivisible presence.
Local Indivisible groups bring people together to take action on issues affecting their communities and democracy. These grassroots groups organize events, advocate for policies, support civic engagement, and hold elected officials accountable. Each group operates independently, focusing on the needs and priorities of its members while staying connected to the broader movement for change.
Welcome! We're really glad you found us! The best first step is to subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on socials. That's how we share upcoming events, action alerts, and ways to plug in. You can also just come to an event — no experience or prior commitment needed. Showing up once is the best way to get a feel for what we do and meet your neighbors.
Check out our Events page to find activities happening near you. Reach out to your elected officials, volunteer for advocacy efforts, or help organize community actions. Stay informed by following trusted sources, sharing information, and encouraging others to engage. Whether you have time to make calls, show up at rallies, or support behind the scenes, your participation helps build a stronger, more representative democracy.
Note: After you sign up, it may take a few days before you start receiving our newsletter. If you haven't heard from us within a week, feel free to reach out through the contact form on our website.
Yes! Indivisible is focused on protecting democracy, advocating for policies that promote justice and equity, and holding elected officials accountable—values that transcend party lines.
While our work aligns with progressive goals, anyone who shares a commitment to democracy, fairness, and civic engagement is welcome to get involved. All of our events are rooted in the peaceful exercise of our collective First Amendment Rights. Whether you want to support voting rights, push for government transparency, or engage in constructive dialogue, there are many ways to take action.
We encourage participation from all who believe in strengthening our democratic institutions and making government work for everyone.
Any amount helps. Whether you can give an hour a week, show up for occasional events, or just stay informed and share our posts, you're contributing! We meet people where they are. If you want to take on a bigger role, there are always opportunities to help with organizing, outreach, tabling, and more. Just let us know what you're up for.
The most reliable way is our Community Calendar, but we also keep our socials up to date, and an email newsletter. We share events on Facebook, Bluesky, Instagram.
If you see different times or locations listed in different places for the same event, the event page on our website is always the most up-to-date source.
We love partnering with allied organizations and community voices! For tabling, reach out through our contact form as soon as possible so we can confirm your spot and get you load-in details. For speaking opportunities, please reach out as early as possible — our event programs fill up quickly. Include a brief description of what you'd like to share and how it connects to our community's work.
Every contribution goes directly toward our event supplies and organizing work. We're grateful for whatever you can give — even small amounts make a real difference for a volunteer-run group like ours.

Thank you!
We use the funds for purchasing supplies to help folks make signs and get involved at pop-up protests, and for operational costs like the website. The largest place the funds go to is the venues for the larger events, like the No Kings festivals.
