When I saw quite a few women with protest signs wearing hot pink T-shirts at the Social Security Support Event it naturally aroused my curiosity, especially when one turned around and I saw “RE-SISTER” in large black letters printed across her back. I had to have one of those t-shirts! They said the only way to get one was to come to a meeting, so off I went.

I asked them how they got started? Turns out some of them knew each other from a local gym and shared friends. They began to share their despair after Trump got elected and decided to form a support/study group, started inviting other friends, and there are now 15 women making their disgust with the Trump regime known in various ways.

The group tries to meet every 2 weeks, attend training sessions like Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal’s Online Resistance Lab, write postcards, and call our congressmen. They attend Indivisible Chico events, keep focused on growing their team, and are well-read, bright, individuals who have studied Trump’s administration and know what’s going on. And besides that, they are a lot of Fun.

They organized their first Habeas Corpus Protection pop-up protest for Saturday May 17th from 4:00 to 5:00 PM on the Esplanade. They are very concerned about the number of disappeared in our country by ICE, and they cite the United States Disappeared Tracker as their source for the growing numbers of missing. Their next Re-Sister’s meeting will be Saturday the 24th at 6:30 PM and they will begin planning their disappearing persons pop-up event.

After spending the evening with them tonight, I am an official sister-resister, soon to get my own pink T-shirt with RE-SISTER written on the back. Boy, will my own two sisters be jealous!
