We're Here to Stay!
No Kings!
Festival & Protest for Democracy
No one in Chico, CA, elected a king. No one signed up for the destructive events that have happened to our democracy since January 20th, 2025. It's not a matter of party, it's a matter of democracy. We're still here, we're still reminding everyone.
NO KINGS!
Indivisible Chico says
NO KINGS!
No Kings is a peaceful movement of millions of Americans from ALL walks of life who are joining together to loudly stand and side with democracy, to hold the line against dictatorships taking hold in the United States.
The Power belongs to the People.
Our elected representatives need to see us to know that we are paying attention. We the People reject authoritarian rule and we have since 1776. That hasn't changed and it won't change any time soon.
Saturday, October 18th, Chico held multiple pro-democracy events, coordinated to try to meet everyone where they are so that they can participate in ways that are meaningful for them. At noon, people in our community were invited to show up to the No Kings Festival and Protest for Democracy at 100 Wildwood Ave. The festival was hosted by Indivisible Chico in partnership with GSEC at Chico State and we were joined by many local groups and vendors to support the movement.
At Indivisible Chico, we believe that folks should be able to get involved where and how they are comfortable, and we had been told by many locals that the downtown march of the first No Kings march had been a challenge for them or their friends in one way or another. We reserved the park location as a family-friendly, accessible space for activities for those folks who had reached out. Our team expected there would be only a hundred or so people, given that the other organizations in town intended to repeat the march experience from earlier in the year in the much more well-known downtown location.
Instead, Chico showed up! Our initial count revealed over 1,250 people showed up throughout the afternoon, for making signs, making scarecrows, and protesting along the nearby East Ave. With just over 5,000 people who attended the march downtown, Chico added nearly 6,300 people to the INTERNATIONAL day of action alongside more than 7 million others in saying
NO KINGS IN OUR DEMOCRACY.
Courage is Contagious.
Stand in solidarity with your community to build the strength in numbers to do what we can, where we are most needed.
